Dr. Hendra Yusran Siry, is the Deputy Director for Technical Affairs, Research Center for Marine and Fisheries Socio-Economics, the Agency for Marine and Fisheries Research, Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (DKP) and was before a staff of the Directorate General of Regional Development, Ministry of Home Affairs (Ditjen Bangda Depdagri) for five years. Hendra has been involved intensively in facilitating and supporting the planning and implementation of research projects on marine and fisheries, including the impact of climate change, as well as promoting institutional strengthening and facilitation processes on coastal zone management.
In 1996, Hendra gain his bachelor degree in marine science from the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Science, University of Riau, Indonesia. He then pursue his master’s in Environmental Science at the School of Environment, Resources, and Development (SERD), the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), Thailand having won postgraduate scholarships from the CIDA and Ford Foundation. His PhD degree was received in 2009 from the Resource Management in Asia-Pacific Program, the Australian National University (ANU), Australia.
His research interests are in decentralised coastal management, community-based management, and co-management in coastal zone management.
